What "Ad-Supported" Means

You already know what this means -- it's just like TV, radio, newspapers or magazines (and, well, the Internet). You get what you want, and you have to put up with some ads.  Aquatica is ad-supported through our relationship with GAIN.

If you use the ad-supported version of Aquatica, you get to experience a great underworld adventure for free.  In exchange, GAIN shows you some pop-up ads while you surf the Web. Because GAIN follows you as you surf the Internet and stores that information anonymously, GAIN ads will offer products similar to those offered by the sites you view, so these ads can be pretty useful.

It's important to know that the GAIN software must be installed in order for the ad-supported version of Aquatica to work. The only way to remove GAIN is to uninstall Aquatica and any other GAIN-supported applications you may have.

In summary, here are a couple of things you should know about GAIN ads:

  1. Because GAIN follows you as you shop on the Internet and stores that information anonymously, GAIN ads will offer products that you probably care about, so these ads can be pretty useful.

  2. GAIN is the largest and most-established company of its kind in the world: they don't play games. Everything is above board. You can visit the GAIN web site if you want to ask them questions.

  3. Getting rid of GAIN software doesn't require a computer science degree. All you have to do is uninstall Aquatica using the Add/Remove Programs dialog in Windows. Once Aquatica (and all other GAIN-supported applications) are gone, the GAIN software will automatically uninstall itself after a few minutes. (Of course, if you do this, you also don't get to use Aquatica for free anymore.)

That's the whole story - a paid version of Aquatica with no ads, or free with GAIN.
